A charming small tinned sheet-iron cooking pot of classic bulbous form retaining its original fitted domed lid with riveted strap-iron handle. The long forged iron handle terminates in its original turned hardwood grip and is secured to the vessel by an attractive hand-riveted butterfly-shaped mounting plate. Constructed with a hand-formed body joined by a vertical lock seam, the pot exhibits the honest workmanship and utilitarian craftsmanship associated with mid-19th century American hearthware. Its untouched, naturally aged surface, softened by decades of use, lends exceptional warmth and authenticity.
