Tin and cast brass
10” and 7” diameter
A wonderfully appealing pair of nineteenth-century copper culinary pans, including a shallow 10-inch cooking pan and a diminutive seven-well egg-poaching pan.
Both retain handsome openwork cast-brass handles secured with hand-peened copper rivets and old tin-lined interiors. Particularly desirable are their rich, untouched surfaces, ranging from warm reddish copper and burnt orange to deep brown, with dark cooking oxidation and traces of verdigris accumulated through generations of use.
The charming 7-inch poacher, with six deeply formed wells surrounding a central seventh, has especially strong sculptural appeal.
Condition: Excellent antique character with expected wear, oxidation, scratches and considerable wear to the original tinning. Handles remain secure. Wonderful untouched surface throughout.
