Attributed to Bermuda | Circa 1900–1940
Finely Worked Pictorial Embroidery | Original-Appearing Period Frame | 18” × 13½” Framed

A beautifully detailed and wonderfully folky example of early 20th-century Bermudian pictorial needlework, depicting a charming panoramic view of Hamilton Harbour. Executed entirely in thousands of remarkably fine stitches, this captivating textile possesses the richness of a painting, with delicate shades of olive green, golden yellow, soft blue, and warm earth tones.

Particularly appealing are the miniature Bermudian cottages and waterfront buildings, individually embroidered with tiny windows, distinctive rooftops, and delightfully naive proportions. Small sailing vessels, lush tropical vegetation, and shimmering harbor waters add wonderful depth and character to the picturesque composition.

The embroidered inscription “HAMILTON HARBOUR BERMUDA” identifies the scene. Believed to be Bermudian-made, the work beautifully combines extraordinary needleworking skill with charming folk art simplicity.

Presented in its handsome original-appearing silver-toned and gilt wooden frame, retaining a lovely softly aged palette.

Provenance: Purchased in Bermuda during the 1950s.

A wonderfully accomplished and highly decorative example of Bermudian pictorial needlework, distinguished by its remarkably delicate craftsmanship, architectural detail, and delightful folk art appeal.
