$350.00 USD

Nuu-chah-nulth (Nootka) / Makah Tradition
Circa 1890–1915
4 1/2” long x 3 1/4” wide x 2 1/4” high

Exceedingly fine miniature oval lidded basket of classic Northwest Coast form, executed in tightly twined cedar bark with precisely integrated imbricated overlay decoration.

The basket displays exceptional stitch consistency and symmetry throughout, with crisp imbrication and well-defined rim wrapping. Interior construction reveals proper twined warps and horizontal wefts consistent with late 19th to early 20th century Nuu-chah-nulth / Makah weaving traditions. The lid seats evenly and securely without distortion.

Surface patina is warm and even, showing natural oxidation and honest age. Minor, expected fiber lifting at the rim consistent with over a century of age; no structural breaks or repairs observed.
