IMPORTANT ART DECO ARCHITECTURAL PERFUME BOTTLE IN URANIUM-TINTED GLASS Circa 1928–1935
1/7
$125.00 USD

Rare and visually commanding Art Deco perfume bottle executed in pale uranium-tinted pressed and cut glass, standing an impressive 6 1/4 inches in height. The bottle is surmounted by an exceptional skyscraper-form stopper featuring repeating octagonal faceted reserves framed by intricate diamond cutting and flanked by strong vertical ribbing, creating a dramatic architectural silhouette associated with the height of the Machine Age and Jazz Era design.

The heavily molded geometric base displays deeply stepped construction with prism-cut corner elements and buttressed architectural modeling reminiscent of contemporary Deco skyscraper ornamentation and modernist industrial design. The luminous pale citron coloration gives the entire object extraordinary light refraction and display presence.

Unlike the smaller commonly encountered vanity bottles of the period, this example possesses unusually bold scale and sculptural form, allowing it to function almost as a small piece of architectural sculpture. Strongly reflective of premier Czech and Continental European Art Deco design influences of the late 1920s through early 1930s.

A superb decorative arts object combining geometry, light, symmetry, and sophisticated Machine Age styling in one highly sculptural presentation.

Dimensions: 6 1/4” high x 3 1/2” wide x 2 1/2” deep.
