A commanding, furniture-scale lodge object, hand-carved in solid wood with dense all-over chip-carving and bold relief Masonic emblems, including the Square & Compasses with “G,” starbursts/rosettes, and flowing “flame” motifs. Carved with equal intensity on both faces—front and back finished to the same standard—with the arms, stem, base, and even the cup rims and tops worked throughout, reflecting substantial labor and intention. The fully developed two-sided carving indicates it was made to stand freestanding in the open—most likely placed at the center of a lodge room/altar area—so it could be viewed from every direction, rather than against a wall. Seven hand-drilled candle cups, 7/8” inside diameter, approx. 2¼” deep, rising from an integral carved platform base with splayed legs and decorative wave and foliate borders. Original dark surface with minor edge wear consistent with age; structurally sound. Incised signature to underside: “MAX FERNAND.” Approx. 34½”h × 14”w.
