Exceptional surviving pair of hand-painted wooden trade sign panels from “Windsor’s Bazaar,” originally constructed back-to-back as a double-sided projecting storefront sign. Executed in mustard yellow lettering over a rich oxblood red ground, the sign retains an outstanding untouched surface with heavy craquelure, edge wear, oxidation, and honest age throughout. The exaggerated folky typography and bold oversized “B” give the piece tremendous visual strength and early Americana character. Old nail holes and construction details remain visible along the edges from its original mounting configuration. A remarkable example of early American country advertising with strong folk art presence and superb small-town mercantile appeal.
Condition: Wear, edge losses, separation from original double-sided mounting structure, scattered cracking and surface distress consistent with age and outdoor use. Displays beautifully.
