An exceptional mid-19th century English Staffordshire stone china covered sauce tureen of elegant Classical form, richly decorated with finely engraved transfer-printed motifs of Etruscan urns, lyres, and antique ornaments heightened with hand-applied burnt sienna enamels and gilt accents. The beautifully modeled acanthus-scroll handles, domed cover with original ladle notch, and raised pedestal foot exemplify the refined Neoclassical taste that dominated the finest English tablewares of the Victorian period.

The underside bears the original hand-painted factory pattern number 6018 D, with a corresponding decorator’s mark beneath the lid. Retaining outstanding original surface and brilliant color, this is an unusually well-preserved example of a decorative Staffordshire serving piece.

Condition: Excellent original condition with only minor age-appropriate glaze crazing at the handle junctions; no evidence of restoration or structural repairs.
