Handcrafted Copper, Brass-Brazed Dovetail Seams & Original Tin Lining

An exceptional pair of early French-attributed copper saucepans, distinguished by their remarkable handcrafted construction, beautifully formed heart-shaped handle attachments, and richly aged surfaces.

Particularly noteworthy are the finely executed dovetailed copper seams, with individually interlocking teeth joined by brass-colored brazing. The larger saucepan displays an especially striking vertical dovetailed seam beside its heart-shaped handle mount, while dovetailed base construction further demonstrates the skill of the early coppersmith.

Both vessels feature wonderfully decorative heart-shaped handle attachments secured by three prominent rivets and extending into long, gracefully proportioned copper handles. The larger retains its impressive fitted copper lid, with a raised circular center, deep overlapping rim, and boldly arched four-rivet grip.

Their beautifully mellow reddish-brown patina, warm golden highlights, and honest evidence of generations of use give these vessels tremendous character.

A wonderfully sculptural pairing of early French country copperware, combining exceptional craftsmanship, unusual decorative details, and outstanding European folk art appeal.
