Attributed to the Goberg School, Schmalkalden, Germany, circa 1905–1920
An unusual and highly sculptural hand-hammered copper chamberstick of hemispherical form with repoussé dimple decoration throughout, forged iron carrying handle, broad riveted flange, and flared candle socket retaining original red-painted decorative accents. Stamped GERMANY beneath. The design embodies the hand-wrought aesthetic of the German Jugendstil movement and bears strong similarities to metalwork produced by the Goberg workshops of Schmalkalden during the early twentieth century.
