Pair of Bohemian Art Deco Gilt and Enameled Glass Candlesticks Czechoslovakia, circa 1930–1940
1/8
$325.00 USD

A striking pair of Art Deco candlesticks composed of clear cut crystal stems rising from circular laminated orange glass bases. The bases are decorated with intersecting geometric gilt enamel linework over a translucent amber-orange ground, framed by wide hand-applied black enamel bands. Each candlestick is fitted with a molded glass candle cup richly finished in fired high-karat (24k-type) gold enamel.

The multi-part construction—comprising a ground crystal stem precisely seated into a color-laminated glass disk—is characteristic of interwar Bohemian production from the Nový Bor (Haida) region. The bold geometric ornament and warm orange-and-gold palette reflect the sophisticated decorative vocabulary associated with the Karl Palda school and related Czech Art Deco workshops of the 1930s.

Height: 9 inches.
Condition: Very good overall. Minor expected wear to fired gold and black enamel consistent with age; no chips, cracks, or structural repairs observed.

An elegant and architecturally composed example of Central European Art Deco decorative glass, distinguished by its use of genuine fired gold enamel and vibrant geometric design.
