American, circa 1940–1960
A wonderfully whimsical, hand-crafted and painted wooden folk art boy, sporting a jaunty red-and-white cap, bright yellow hair, freckled grin, oversized hands, and dangling bare feet while clutching a big black tube. Bold, colorful, and brimming with personality, this delightful fellow is fully finished on both sides and retains a beautifully worn, original-looking painted surface.
Acquired directly from the daughter of the original maker, who recalled her father making the figure. A terrific piece of homemade Americana with irresistible folky charm! Presented on a custom display stand.
Dimensions: Figure: 19” H × 11” W. Overall with stand: 28½” H × 14” W × 10” D.
